Dayton Children’s: The Letter

Mental health is the crisis of our generation, and Dayton Children’s Hospital is on the frontlines, racing to meet the overwhelming demand for support. Every two years, Dayton Children’s holds a fundraising event, ChaCha, that focuses on raising money for something of great importance for the kids in our community. In 2024, the focus was on funding for mental health initiatives and support for a brand new mental health building at Dayton Children's. Our role was to create a compelling film that would inspire potential donors to take action. Through this film, we aimed to shift perspective, encouraging viewers to think differently and consider the deeper impact their support could have on the well-being of children in our community.

What We Did

Messaging, Video, Writing, Concepting

Our team crafted a powerful narrative that follows the journey of a teen and her family as they battle mental health challenges. We knew from the start that this project required authenticity, care, and collaboration with mental health experts. Every detail was intentional…from casting, genuine storytelling, expert insights, and working closely with the Dayton Children’s team to make sure we took as much into consideration as possible.

We made a conscious effort to cast individuals who could embody the very real struggles that many young people and families face today. Leaning on the experiences of real teens, we shaped a narrative that resonates deeply with those who have battled mental health challenges, emphasizing hope and resilience. We worked closely with psychologists and mental health professionals to ensure the story was both accurate and sensitive to the realities of the current mental health crisis.

Over the course of a few weeks, we filmed in multiple locations to help ground the story in reality, showcasing the tangible impact Dayton Children’s is making in our community.

Dayton Children’s is an amazing organization, continuously taking steps to better the overall health and wellness of kids and families in our community. Together, we’re taking a step forward in addressing the mental health needs our community’s children and families are facing every day.
